A. Software in Information Systems
Software is a program that runs the computer. In general there are two large groups of software, operating system software (operating system) and application software (application).
Computer work on the basis of instructions from the user or users. Collection of instructions needed to regulate the way in computer hardware.
Based on its function, the software can be classified in several groups:
1. software system, among others:
a. operating system
b. programming language
c. utility
2. software applications include:
a. office applications
b. multimedia applications
c. Internet applications and network
d. special applications
operating system is software that regulates and controls the hardware so that computers can be run by the user.
Operating system has the functions and duties as follows.
a. manage the process of running a program in the computer.
b. Managing the resource usage of computer hardware components such as CPU, memory, etc., when the computer is running.
c. Managing access to data in secondary storage device or in main memory.
